Journalist / Photographer
I am a journalist and a photographer. I was born in Samara camp. I studied Journalism and Communication at Lemsila University, Algeria. I worked with different organizations of youth and students for about 3 years. I then joined the Sahrawi Center for Research in the camps. I worked as a photographer for Oxfam for some time. And I now work as a presenter at the Sahrawi National TV. I joined Sand and Vision Photography Workshops with Olive Branch Arts Org in 2017. I started working as a photographer because I wanted to capture our own photos instead of others photographing us. I want to use photography to educate and tell about our life. I took this photo of my younger brother Abdullah. I try to find interesting moments with interesting composition. I liked how the shadow of the grid was painted over his face as he was looking through the window. I love to capture all kinds of shadows, we have a very strong sunlight in the desert. Shadows can be found everywhere here, and they make all kinds of interesting shapes, forms and lines. I like to photograph them.
