Brahim Chagaf (Short Bio)

I am Brahim Shagaf, born in Dakhla Camp. When I returned from my study in Algeria, I became interested in studying the Sahrawi culture. And I learned a lot from working in the field. Nowadays I work mostly in the cinema and audio-visual projects, making films and videos. I’m a film director and an educator in the Saharwi school of Cinema. I use films to research and analyze the many social and cultural issues in our society. I love it when I am [invisibly] present in a situation and things happen without me being noticed. I love to let things happen. The stills from my film Taufa which tells the story of the arrival of the first Sahrawi women to the refugee camps in the Hamada Desert in Algeria.
